Like all good plans, ours was shot before we even started.
Our intention was to be on the road by noon, but having such a grand time chatting with our doppelganger pet sitters this morning, we didn’t launch until almost 2pm. Fortunately we were headed just east of Tallahassee and landed right at sunset.
We even made a few stops along the way to see life size whales buried in the front yard of a local resident, a wooden tree house carved by chainsaw in front of a library, and a statue of Johnny Doughnutseed, standing just outside the parking lot of a Shell station 1/4 mile south of Interstate 10 on Florida State Highway 59.
Yes, these are the kinds of things my wife and I stop to take pictures of when we drive around the US. Some people take pictures of their feet at the beach or wingtips from a window seat, still others prefer glowing sunsets, natural wonders or incredible man-made architecture.
Us?
We take pictures of random doughnut wielding statues outside of gas stations.
